Stranger Still is a rock-infused bluegrass quartet based out of Tallahassee, FL. Formed in 2007 by Bree Van Oss (Mandolin), Oakley Van Oss (Guitar) and Pete Knowlton (Banjo, Pedal Steel), they played their first show in just 2 short months to rave reviews. Although, the sound was there, it was missing the strong foundation that only a bass could provide. Friend and bassist Brian Burke was asked to jam for a bit, and shortly there-after Brian solidified the core group.
The boys in Stranger Still pride themselves on creating strong 4-part harmony and engaging the audience. A Stranger Still show is fun, high-paced and always leaves the audience wanting more. With a repertoire of over 4 and half hours worth of material, almost 2 hours of original music, Stranger Still has a deep bag to pull from to please any crowd. With songs ranging from classic rock (Stuck in the Middle With You - Steelers Wheel) to straight ahead bluegrass (Old Home Place – J.D. Crowe, Red Haired Boy, Cripple Creek) audiences always find a tune to connect with.
Both Brian and Pete have heavy touring experience, which in turn has brought a level of professionalism to the band many groups don’t
have for quite some time.
Stranger Still comes prepared with their
own sound and light rig which can be set-up in any venue.
They're ready to play for whomever, whenever!
